Hot Water Heaters ~ Denver, Colorado
Experienced plumbers can repair water heating systems and install new hot water heaters.
The most common types of hot water heater problems include:
•no hot water (your hot water heater should be able to heat water to 120-130 degrees Fahrenheit)
•inadequate hot water
•water leaking around the base of the hot water heater
•rusty colored water
•rotten egg smell coming from the hot water or hot water heater
•noises coming from the hot water heater (rumbling, whining, or popping sounds)
It may be time to buy a new hot water heater if the estimated cost of the repairs is too expensive, if your hot water heater is very old, if your household needs for hot water have changed, and/or if you’d like to install a more energy efficient hot water heater.
There are a number of hot water heater models on the market today, including:
•tankless hot water heaters (which are very energy efficient)
•hot water heaters with storage tanks (typically 40 gallon hot water heaters or 75 gallon hot water heaters)
•hot water booster tanks
•gas hot water heaters
•electric hot water heaters
•solar hot water heaters (active and passive)
With the life expectancy on most hot water heater storage tank models at 7-15 years, if your hot water heater has reached or exceeded that age, you’ll need to keep a close eye on it. A common hot water heater problem is for the bottom of the tank to rust out, in which case water will gush out and flood your house or basement.
When comparing new hot water heaters, be sure to also consider:
•price (get a written estimate from a plumber)
•quality and expected life expectancy of the hot water heater
•name brands (top brands include Rheem, State, AO Smith, Rinna, and Bosch)
•energy costs per year (look for the Energy Star rating)
•size and shape
Please note: With some tankless hot water heaters, you may qualify for up to $1,500 in a federal tax credit, under the energy savings stimulus packages in place for 2010.
